The University offers a range of scholarships for Pakistani students of high academic standing commencing their studies at the University of Sheffield in September 2006.


Undergraduate e.g BA, BSc
Two undergraduate scholarships, worth £2,000 each per year, for up to three years of study.
To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must be Pakistani or permanently domiciled in Pakistan, apply for a study place by 9 June 2006 and hold an offer of a study place for entry in September 2006. Eligible students will be sent an application form automatically from February 2006 onwards. Applicants cannot apply for the scholarship before being offered a study place at Sheffield.


Postgraduate taught programmes e.g. MA, MSc
One postgraduate taught masters scholarship worth £2,000 for one year of study.

New Route PhD
Tuition fee scholarships are available to students starting a New Route PhD programme in September 2006.
The scholarship is a 25% tuition fee reduction per year for 4 years of the degree programme.
Applicants will be informed automatically if they have been awarded a scholarship. Applicants cannot apply for the scholarship before being offered a study place at Sheffield.

Up to forty Chancellor's International Scholarships of £2,200 are available to new overseas fee paying students each year who are applying to study at undergraduate and postgraduate taught degree level.

A range of organizations offer awards for postgraduate study in the UK, and the University of Sussex itself has several schemes that provide financial help.



University of East Angelia


The University of East Anglia provides over £500,000 of scholarships each year to support international students in their studies. The awards are made by individual Schools of Study in the University. All international students (outside the European Union) are considered for a scholarship of between 10% and 50% of tuition fees.
In order to be considered for a UEA scholarship you do not need to make a separate application. Please indicate on your application for admission that you wish to be considered for a scholarship.
It is important to make an application as early as possible because they are considered as they are received. So apply early to make sure of the best chance of success. If you are granted a scholarship, you will be informed at the time you receive your offer of a place at UEA.
Scholarships are awarded to students on the basis of academic merit and are normally for the duration of the period of study - three years for Bachelor and PhD degrees and one year for Masters Programmes. They are available from all Schools of Study and across most courses of study.
Students of outstanding academic ability will also be considered for Faculty Scholarship Awards made by the Dean of Faculty, usually in April or May each year. These are highly competitive and prestigious awards.

2006 Postgraduate Taught Scholarship Scheme


Oxford Brookes University are pleased to announce a new scholarship scheme available to International students applying for any OBU postgraduate taught masters course offered in Oxford. For more details please contact the Graduate Office.

2006 Postgraduate Bursary Scheme
Oxford Brookes University is pleased to announce that it has decided to recognize the personal loyalty shown by registration of recent graduates/alumni for additional degree/s where the students are categorized as 'overseas' for fee purposes. A discount of 10% of the students' yearly tuition fee will be allowed on registration and payment of tuition fees as set out below.


Why is Brookes offering the bursary?
1. Graduates of Brookes are well prepared academically for a postgraduate course of study.
2. Offers the opportunity for international students to continue their studies to PhD level whereas previously they may not have felt such a course affordable.
3. Brookes value the diversity and work ethic that international students bring to the university.


Who is eligible for the 10% bursary?
Any international student who has graduated from Oxford Brookes University and wishes to stay on/return for an additional degree. E.g. an undergraduate student who then studies for a taught Masters programme or a taught Masters graduate who enrolls onto another taught Masters or an MPhil/PhD programme.


How do eligible international students apply?
An application form (PDF) must be filled out completely and posted to the Student Fees Team in the Income Office (see www.brookes.ac.uk/finance/income for address).


On receipt of the form the Student Fees Team checks that:
1. Applicant was previously registered as an International student and has gained an undergraduate or postgraduate award from the university, and
2. Applicant is registered on a postgraduate taught or research based course as an international student.


What is the timeframe for application?


There is no set deadline for application. Students can apply retrospectively and receive refunds where necessary BUT if the form is received in the Income Office by 05 September 2006, the 10% discount will be applied to the fee when the Semester 1 installment is taken on 11 September 2006.

British Council Fellowships

Funded by the British Council

• Awarded for postgraduate study or research
• Range from short attachments to research leading to a PhD
• Awarded by the local British Council Director; he or she decides the subject areas that will be eligible for a grant and selects the candidates.
• You must apply to the British Council Office in your own country for a fellowship, and you are usually required to be a national and a resident of the country you apply in.
• If you are considered for a grant, you will be interviewed in your own country.

Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP)

Funded by the Department for International Development and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office

• Assists Commonwealth students and academics of high intellectual caliber to study in other Commonwealth countries
• Around 400 students come to the UK each year under the scheme
• You may be eligible for a Commonwealth Scholarship if you are a citizen of either a Commonwealth country (but not the Commonwealth of Independent States), or a British dependent territory
• Scholarships are primarily intended for postgraduate study or research; candidates should hold a good honors degree or equivalent qualification appropriate for admission to their proposed course of study
• If there are no undergraduate courses in a particular subject in your own country or regional university, it may sometimes be possible for you to apply to do a first degree course under this scheme
• Fellowships are usually for established teachers in universities or medical schools for study at postdoctoral level. They are not awarded for degree or diploma courses.

British Chevening Scholarships

Funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office

• Provides awards for present and future leaders, decision makers and opinion-formers, in particular from countries with whom the UK's economic relations are expected to develop.
• Awards are for one-year diploma and Masters courses in various fields
• Selection of candidates is carried out by British Embassies and High Commissions in consultation with the local British Council Director
• You should therefore be in residence in your home country when you apply your local British Council

Overseas Research Students (ORS) Award Scheme

Funded by the Department of Education and Employment

• Available to US based graduate students for study in the UK

• Applicants are advised to apply to more than one university and to check and adhere to university deadlines which differ from institution to institution

Lancaster University


Undergraduate scholarships for overseas students
Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) is now offering generous scholarships of £1500 (GBP) per year to overseas undergraduate students.
A scholarship of £1500 per year will be awarded to you if you meet the conditions for guaranteed admission (including 6.5 on IELTS if this is an additional requirement) and if you also make Lancaster your first choice. Your scholarship will initially be guaranteed just for the first year of study, but it will be renewed after the first year at LUMS as long as you pass all your modules at the first attempt and remain on a LUMS degree.
If you hold a scholarship it will still be paid in full for your placement year or year abroad.

Post Grad Scholarships & funding: 2006 entry
Lancaster University Management School offers a generous range of scholarships and bursaries for postgraduate study in business and management. All our scholarships are listed on this page. (These are offered in addition to those available through the University and from other sources.)


Full-time MBA
Five special scholarships are available for outstanding applicants (worth £7,500 each) including the Heinz Leadership Scholarship, the United Utilities Entrepreneurship Scholarship and the Institute of Directors Diversity Scholarship. These scholarships of £7500 are for high calibre applicants who meet specific academic and professional criteria above our standard admissions requirements including a GMAT of 640 and above.
In addition a limited number of Lancaster MBA Bursaries are also available (worth between £1000 and £5,000). All are allocated on a competitive basis. Applicants wishing to be considered for a bursary need to provide a 1000-word statement demonstrating how - through their ideas and achievements - they will be a particular asset to the programme. Cases of exceptional need will also be considered.
There is also a special £2000 scholarship who applies for admission through our agent 'Hands On' - deadline end April 2006.

University of Exeter

An update for you regarding scholarships at the School of Business & Economics. The most important point is that we are offering bursaries of up to £2500 for the following programmes:

University of Kent


The University of Kent offers a limited number of small scholarships to overseas students registering on approved graduate and undergraduate courses at Kent.
The scholarships, awarded on the basis of academic merit, provide for a reduction of £2,000 in the first year’s overseas fees. Only applicants who have accepted an offer of a place at Kent and demonstrated their ability to fund their studies are eligible for consideration. The closing date for application is 31 May prior to the academic year of entry.


1. Applicants for undergraduate or graduate study at the University of Kent may ask to be considered for one of the University’s Overseas Scholarships.
2. A request for consideration should be made by completing the slip at the bottom of this page and sending it to the relevant Admission’s Office. The Office for Undergraduate Admissions or the Graduate Admissions Office.
3. In order to be eligible for consideration for a scholarship all of the conditions i to iv below must have been satisfied:

i. an application must have been made for a degree course (either undergraduate or postgraduate) at the University of Kent
ii. the applicant must have received an offer of a place on such a degree course.
iii. the University must have received confirmation of the applicant’s acceptance of the offer

5. Before a final decision can be made on the award of any scholarship, all the terms of any conditional offer must have been satisfied and all qualifications must have been verified by the University.
6. The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and are only payable on or after registration and payment of net fees at the University of Kent .
7. The scholarships will provide for a £2,000 reduction in tuition fees payable at the overseas rate, for the first year of registration only.
8. Applicants who have not heard anything by 31 August should assume the application for funding has not been successful.
